DESCRIPTION:CMAT Volunteers attend annual training in regions across Canada \nThursday\, May 26\, 2011 – A few spaces remain for CMAT’s training workshop and volunteer appreciation day being held on June 4th\, 2011 in Vancouver. \nThe purpose of this day is to acknowledge and thank the participation of individuals involved in CMAT deployments\, most recently in Japan. The event is being sponsored by Molson. CMAT will also take this opportunity to provide basic Search and Rescue orientation\, engage CMAT members\, and possibly recruit new volunteers. \nCMAT Training includes an opportunity to view and work with deployment equipment. \nAlong with CMAT and IMAT members\, members of the Burnaby Fire Department will attend to provide members with some basic Search and Rescue skills to better prepare members in the event deployed persons are caught in a collapse of a building and other related basic SAR skills. \nThe fee for attending is $50\, which includes lunch\, refreshments and a newly redesigned CMAT t-shirt. DESCRIPTION:** PLEASE EMAIL ROCCO at rlombardi@canadianmedicalteams.org TO CONFIRM YOUR PARTICIPATION** \nIn anticipation of imminent deployment of our medical teams to Japan\, CMAT is calling for volunteers from the greater Toronto area and southern Ontario to assist in the sorting\, inventory and packing of medical equipment and supplies. We need about 20 people to help us this Saturday\, March 19th\, from 1 – 5pm at our warehouse near Airport Road and Derry Road\, in Mississauga\, just north of Pearson International Airport. \nIf you are available to lend a hand\, please send an email to Rocco Lombardi\, CMAT Regional Vice-Chair for Eastern Canada at rlombardi@canadianmedicalteams.org. DESCRIPTION:Photo by CMAT Nurse Jason Watt \nTORONTO\, CANADA/ LONDON\, UNITED KINGDOM – Hickory Dickory Documentary Films\, headed by Jason Watt\, photographer and volunteer field nurse for CMAT’s medical relief mission to Pakistan (October/ November 2005) is presenting a world premiere film screening of this movie he produced\, wrote and directed called ‘ZALZALA: The Pakistan Earthquake’. The film features the lives of the Pakistani people in and around Muzzaffarabad\, Pakistan who became the innocent victims of the devastating earthquake which killed nearly 90\,000 persons in October\, 2005 and which made millions homeless. Canadian Medical Assistance Teams responded by deploying over 10 teams of paramedics\, nurses\, physicians and rehab therapists and physiotherapists to the area over a six month period.
