April 4, 2006: Three new earthquake-resistant elementary schools will be built over the next three months in the devastated region of Azad Kashmir. The Canadian Medical Assistance Teams (CMAT) will contract local builders to facilitate the project, funded through private and public donations.

January 15, 2006: CMAT is pleased to report that it has successfully completed distribution of 1,000 badly needed winterized tents and 5,000 thermal quilts to Pakistan quake survivors. Out of the 400,000 tents that were deployed in the weeks following the October 8, 2006 quake, over 90% were not suitable for winter conditions.
December 12, 2005: CMAT has learned of a new major quake in Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan. Preliminary reports from CMAT field staff are that the quake was centered in a sparsely populated area in the Hindu-Kush Mountains with tremors felt from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to Lahore.
