May 12, 2008 – Toronto: Canadian Medical Assistance Teams have readied their assessment team to respond to the earthquake which happened earlier today in China. Chongqing, Toronto’s sister city in the province of Sichuan recently visited by a trade mission of Toronto Mayor David Miller and Toronto City Councillors, was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale at approximately 14:00 local time.

Saturday July 7, 2007 – CMAT published photos today of a school opening in a remote village outside of Muzzaffarabad, the epicenter of the devastating October, 2005 quake that killed over 90,000 persons. School construction for 150 children was completed in March, 2007 and included playground equipment. The structure was built to be earthquake resistant. Funds for the project were donated by Canadian clothier Stitches and constructed at a cost of $25,000 CAD.
