Sunday, August 12, 2007 – BRANTFORD, CANADA – CMAT will deploy a 2-member assessment team to meet its local partner in Dhaka this week. As part of their initial 3-4 day assessment they will make a determination as to whether the Canadian Medical Assistance Team (CMAT) field hospital will be deployed or not.
Monday, August 6, 2007 – CMAT is monitoring the situation in Bangladesh and northern India where major flooding from monsoon rains have killed up to 1,200 persons and displaced more than 20 million. The threat of water-borne diseases is rapidly rising and millions of people are homeless or cut off in their villages because of the heavy monsoon rains and flooding.
Saturday July 7, 2007 – CMAT published photos today of a school opening in a remote village outside of Muzzaffarabad, the epicenter of the devastating October, 2005 quake that killed over 90,000 persons. School construction for 150 children was completed in March, 2007 and included playground equipment. The structure was built to be earthquake resistant. Funds for the project were donated by Canadian clothier Stitches and constructed at a cost of $25,000 CAD.
