March 11, 2005: CMAT provided an update today on its emergency Tsunami relief projects for orphanages in Tamil Nadu, India, and medical team missions to Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India: Needs assessments were completed by CMAT Volunteers Tara Newell and James Caddell, two Canadians working with nine non-government funded orphanages in Kanniyakumari district, Tamil Nadu.

February 21, 2005: CMAT announced today that its staff will be jointly working with a team on a medical ship making rounds sailing from Banda Aceh to Meuloboh along the Sumatran coast in Indonesia. The medical ship, the KM Batavia, is providing medical and emergency relief to communities along the Sumatran coast made inaccessible by the December 26 Tsunami.

February 17, 2005: Two Canadian CMAT volunteers, James Caddell and Tara Newell, have completed a needs assessment in the Tsunami devastated Kanniyakumari district in Tamil Nadu, India.

As a result, CMAT will be supporting the emergency needs of 1,210 orphans and Tsunami affected children living in nine non-government funded orphanages in this district. These orphanages are accepting children from all castes, religions and cultures, without discrimination.
