August 15, 2021 – Our CMAT assessment team is assembled and will be deploying from Toronto Pearson early Sunday morning. We will be working alongside and in direct collaboration with HERO Client Rescue (Haitian Emergency Response Operations) to do some preliminary assessments of the affected areas. August 14, 2021 – CMAT is actively monitoring the tragic 7.2 earthquake that hit Haiti this morning. Partners are conducting rapid assessments now and we expect to have more information soon when our rapid assessment team arrives.

Interested medical, logistic and administrative volunteers should ensure their profiles are up to date so you are deployment-ready should we be called on to respond.

Sunday, September 11, 2011 – Six months ago, on March 11, 2011 a massive earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan. The earthquake and tsunami that followed caused the death of at least 24,000 people and set off a nuclear crisis which was as confusing as it was frightening. Four months later, CMAT Chair Valerie Rzepka, and CMAT Volunteer Seiko Watanabe returned to Japan to retrieve CMAT equipment which will no longer be needed, and to acknowledge and thank CMAT’s Japanese in-country volunteers.
