CMAT announces partnership with Giving Tuesday Canada!

Canadian Medical Assistance Teams is proud to announce it is an official 2013 partner in Giving Tuesday Canada!

Giving TuesdayMost people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday  …now #GivingTuesdayCa is coming to Canada on December 3, 2013.

It is a new Canadian movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Cyber Monday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others. it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others. In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday, we want the giving community to come together for GivingTuesday. We ask that partners create and commit to a project for GivingTuesday and then help spread the word to their networks.

“We have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.”

GivingTuesday is all about charity! It’s about creating a national movement for giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages donations and volunteering activities that support any and all charities and non-profit organizations.

Over 2,500 partners came together for the inaugural GivingTuesday in the US in 2012. The movement gained national awareness, recognition and endorsements from The White House, Bill Gates and the Clinton Foundation. Online giving increased 50% year-on-year, based on data from Blackbaud, Network for Good, and DonorPerfect. The movement was heralded as the “Social Innovation of the Year” by Bloomberg.com and “One of Five Philanthropy High Points in 2012” by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Not too shabby, right?
